Benchmark Portal
Please see our demo portal below for a preview of the benchmark dashboard available for signed EDCI members along with the additional functionalities available for premium members (note, GPs only receive access once their data has been submitted and validated by Expand). Each dashboard provides functionality to filter by industry, geography, growth stage, revenue, FTEs and ownership, as well as a number of topic-specific filters on for some metrics. Functionality includes:
For basic members:
- Benchmark Summary: Provides demographic insights on the EDCI benchmark composition (across sector, growth state, revenue, FTEs, ownership type and region) and submission rates by metric.
- Benchmark results: Topic-specific dashboards (e.g. GHG Emissions) covering all nineteen EDCI metrics. Users can filter and drill into the data to identify performance and trends in targeted segments of the benchmark peer group.
For premium members:
- Advanced benchmark granularity: Bespoke, customizable filters to craft benchmarks at the industry and country level for significantly more granular evaluation of portfolio performance.
- Tailored benchmarks: Pre-calculated benchmarks generated for each individual PortCo and metric, providing highly targeted performance comparisons
- GP/LP dashboards: A suite of tools utilizing the tailored benchmarks to enable users to interrogate and understand performance across a portfolio or fund, as well as for individual PortCos and KPIs.
- Trending analysis: A separate dashboard provides normalized trending data based on consistent peer groups to allow users to understand changes in the benchmark performance over time.
- Data sharing functionality: A dedicated interface to enable the selective sharing of data between GPs and LPs

How the demo works
The demo benchmark utilizes mock data to allow users to experience the functionality of our full EDCI benchmarking platform. Access to these functionalities depends on membership type.
To facilitate this demo, we have included three of our eight available dashboards: the Benchmark Summary, Peer Comparison, and one example Metrics dashboard – GHG emissions.
How can I get full access?
To receive full dashboard access, you must join the EDCI as a premium member.
While all committed members gain access to the aggregate benchmark, including the Benchmark and Metrics Summary dashboards, premium members gain access to additional functionalities including more granular Benchmark and Trending dashboards, along with the data sharing functionality.
Overview of the Benchmark’s data collection and creation process
The benchmark methodology is designed to enable robust data validation and aggregation across metrics and to support EDCI members in their efforts to understand current ESG performance in the private markets.
Upon submission of the data template by GPs, BCG Expand conducts a series of steps to validate the data, create an aggregated benchmark, and securely share it with participants through the benchmark portal:
As needed, follow up with reporting GP member to securely collect, validate and map data to the benchmark taxonomy, ensuring:
- Submission of portfolio company names and identifiers (if needed for data submitted anonymized)
- Correction of data anomalies, blanks, nulls, and incorrect units
- Correction of instances that are internally inconsistent, for example, the number of women on a board exceeding the total number of board members
- Methodology used for data collection and estimation is in line with data submission guidance
Develop an aggregated, anonymized benchmark
- Rescaling using business metrics such as revenues or FTEs to account for company size and scale, creating “benchmark” comparison point across metrics
- Ensuring aggregated data points in the benchmark have more than ten data points to ensure portfolio company anonymity
Onboard GP and LP members to the benchmark platform, ensuring only aggregated data is visible for LPs and both aggregated and portfolio specific data submitted is visible for GPs, by:
- Using BCG Expand’s core benchmark database processing and secure web-based front-end capabilities to provide dynamic access to the benchmark information (with ability to flexibly cut the benchmark based on relevant filters)
- Managing permissions to ensure secure access to the data
- Ensuring data access is controlled and limited to protect individually contributed datasets
What does premium access to the EDCI portal look like?
When you join the EDCI as a premium member, you will have access to our full benchmarking tool that includes analytic views to:
